It's important to me that my clients are educated on how to keep their eyes clean while wearing eyelash extensions. Eye hygiene is an essential part of your daily routine and this should not be ignored while wearing lashes. Many people think that if they wash their lashes, it will make them fall out. In fact, if you keep your lashes clean, it could extend the life of your lash extensions as natural oils can break down the adhesive that bonds your lash extensions to your natural eyelashes.
On the flip side, not keeping up with eye hygiene can cause the following eye conditions:
- Stye - a red bump in the eyelid margin which can be very painful. It's caused by an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes.
- Blephartis - an inflammation and irritation of the margins of the eyelids due to an allergic, infectious, seborrheic, irritable or mixed reason. It usually occurs in both eyes at the same time and is recurrent.
And worst of all, if your eyes aren't clean and you have a condition... You can't wear lash extensions. Laws prohibit me from working on you if you have a medical condition that could be worsened by the application of lash extensions. So do yourself a favor and keep those eyes clean!
