Have you ever overheard two people in conversation and the information they were sharing with one another was completely false? I know I have. And for me, it takes quite a bit of restraint to not jump in and correct them. Especially if it's something I'm really passionate about like eyelash extensions.
One thing I've been hearing for years that really gets under my skin is that some people don't even try lash extensions because they've heard that lash extensions break your natural eyelashes decided to address that myth here today.
I purposely put up an unedited photo taken with my Blackberry phone for this week's blog because it's important that you see physical proof to support my point. The client pictured has been a client of mine since about June of 2014. Initially, I saw her every 3-4 weeks for touch ups and eventually we progressed to volume lashes so I would then see her every 4-6 weeks. Since I've started working with her, she has never taken a break from lash extensions. In fact, she had been wearing lash extensions for 3 years prior to me and her natural lashes were fine and short. Do her lashes look damaged and broken to you? Absolutely not. And she isn't a rare case either.
So whats my point?
Since I've been seeing her, her natural lashes have actually grown more and gotten stronger. What's important for you to know is that lash extensions do not break your lashes. Improper application and aftercare breaks your lashes.
As a professional, it's my responsibility to look at your lashes and determine what is healthy for you. That includes length, thickness and fullness. If you get lashes that are too heavy, that will cause damage down the line. This is why it's super important to do your research. There are a lot of lash artists entering the industry and we all aren't at the same level of experience. It's ok to ask a ton of questions to make sure you're getting the right artist and I encourage you to follow their work to make sure it's consistent.
I really hope this clears up any confusion you may have had about lash extensions damaging your natural eyelashes. Let's make this a great week!
