I've heard quite a few myths and met women that are confused about lash extensions. Because of this, I wrote this brief blog entry to explain what lash extensions are in hopes that it empowers you to choose a professional lash artist wisely and hopefully put those myths to rest.
I see a lot of places out there advertising eyelash extensions for $40- $60. Typically what you get for that price is what some refer to as “individuals” however what you're REALLY getting is "clusters" that you can buy for a few bucks from most drug stores or beauty supplies. They sometimes use hair bonding glue or a stronger, less flexible adhesive to put each cluster in your lash line and the procedure takes about 30 minutes or less to put them in. Typically, they last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks however they are VERY unhealthy for your natural eyelashes. Why, you ask? Because they don’t allow you to clean your lashes thoroughly and also because several of your lashes get glued together which adds weight and strains your lashes. As a result of wearing them over time, your natural lashes fall out in clumps and become thin and fragile.
None of these are semi-permanent eyelash extensions
The application of semi-permanent, single strand eyelash extensions is a detailed process that should ONLY be performed by a trained and hopefully certified lash artist. The service requires your artist to have a great deal of patience and an eye for detail. With proper application, one synthetic lash is applied to one of your healthy, natural eyelashes. If any of your lashes are too delicate to support a lash extension, the synthetic lash will not be applied in order to maintain the health of your natural eyelashes.
The result of semi-permanent eyelash extensions you ask? Fuller, longer, gorgeous lashes without the need for mascara.
