Promoting a service or product that's not a necessity isn't always easy. We're in the business of artistry and not everyone can appreciate that. There are always going to be highs and lows in the beauty business however, I wanted to share with you the things that I've done to keep a steady stream of Clients even when other local Artists are struggling to get people in the door.
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
This was something I learned years ago when working in the corporate world. You can have the same product as everyone else and still charge premium prices if you offer amazing Customer service. I'm always thinking of ways to wow my Clients. A few things that I do that Clients appreciate:
- Show up 10-15 minutes early - Respect your Client's time. They could have chose anyone to provide them with this service. Respect their time by making sure you're prepared earlier than they expect
- Offer something that no one else offers - My clients are like royalty to me. They get a full body massage while getting their lashes done. I also make house calls so they can have the service in the comfort of their homes. Think outside of the box. What can you do that will separate you from other Artists in your area?
- Maintain confidentiality - Under no circumstances do you share personal information about your Clients. We aren't just Lash Artists. We're the escape from a stressful day. We're the listening ear and sometimes the shoulder to cry on. This is an incredibly personal experience. Maintain trust with your Clients and don't gossip or share their information.
Having a spirit of excellence opens the door to more referrals and gets people speaking positively about you. Always give your best.
I'll be the first to say, I don't really care for Yelp but I respect that platform. It's free and you could potentially get a lot of Clients if you use it right. Claim your business page and if it's not already there, set up a new business page using the business platform. From there, upload great photos of your work. Encourage your Clients to leave reviews for you. The more positive reviews you have along with quality photos of your work, the greater chance you have to attract new Clients when they're searching for the service you offer.
When things are slow, it's easy to lose your drive. But don't! Promote yourself on Facebook by friending potential Clients in your area. And post frequently. I've found that Facebook is a great place to attract a more mature Client and Instagram or Snapchat is best for younger Clients. The most important thing is to engage with your Client base by posting frequently and interacting with them on their posts.
